Power Steering Cooler - Best Donor Car??

What is the best junk yard donor car for a power steering cooler? (Im not interested in new or aftermarket? I saw one post that recommended a truck. Does anyone know which truck model and years or what other vehicles might work best?

Its for my 68 Camaro with factory power steering that has been swapped with an IROC XH box.

      Thanks
      Pete

You can buy a new one with all the hose and clamps for around $25 at most any store that carries Haynes coolers. Why take a chance with a used one when you can get new that cheap? Aluminum heat cycles and gets brittle and will crack, not giving you the life you may be expecting from a used one.

I have snagged them from Cadillac sedans before, but I can't remember exactly what model (most were Northstars, so probably anything from the mid 90s up) Just be sure to flush them out well before use.

Gotta love the 90's caddy's for having all the goods. I pulled some great sealed relays off the same caddy's, thanks for the tip.

I just saw in one of the car magazines that a 4th gen Camaro can have a cooler that goes between the radiator and and the engine via the upper radiator hose. This is a better situation for packaging in most cases and it is easy to use AN fittings and better hoses.

Cop/taxi cars like a Caprice or Crown Vic would have them as well. Small trans coolers could be used as well. Check out street rod suppliers as well, they tend to have creative cooling solutions, if you don't mind some bling.

I have been doing them with simply bending 3/8 steel line, bend as needed and make as many loops as you feel you need. I have set up several make them in 3 in loops and full width of radiator, put it up front in front of condenser. Just remember to make a bypass set up for winter use if you daily drive in cold winters or use one of the tranny cooler thermostats. Had a guy with a truck and he used it hard moving trailers and such all day. We built his and plumbed his return line in. Found a small 3/8 ball valve online somewhere with compression fittings and made a bypass for winter, he had hydro boost also and it always issues no mater what. My addition worked well and didnt hang out where it would get damaged easy. I have pic somewhere I think.
My elcheapo line bender bends 180 so its easy. If you have access to a hydraulic flaring tool you can even add or subtract loops as needed with little planning, also it can be mounted on bottom of rad support or anywhere you want.

Call me silly, but how would you even know your Power steering fluid was getting hot. What are the symptoms of an overheating PS pump??

it can boil over and foam.

also C5Z or C6 vette power steering coolers work very well.
