      Rat Rods

Thought some of you might want to take a short break form the Pro-touring scene and check out some Rat Rods on my website www.AmericanCarsAmericanGirls.com The article is called: 2011 RAT ROD RUMBLE -- IT WAS ALMOST TOO GOOD. Over 50 pictures and 2 videos.

Hope to see you at the 2011 Run Thru The Hills. I'll have my camera.

Im really getting in to the rat rod look since I got my 29' 5 window. But mine is not rat rod looking tho...

The second picture made me crack up a little wondering how long it will take for people to notice something in the picture.

I suppose it says where my mindset is when it was the first thing I noticed!

I looked at that site and liked the pics on there. I love rat rods. I would like to put one together for myself one day.
I am not useless, I can still be used as a bad example!

I still don't get the rat rod thing, if I wanted a rusted and beat up POS I would have kept the Hyundai I had in high school.

I will however take a selection of the young ladies featured with the vehicles.

When I was a kid I had an '61 Chevy pickup that would fit into the "rat rod" category today. It was rusty, slammed on bias ply whitewalls with Moon discs & lakes pipes (with flamethrowers, lol). Back then they were called pieces of crap.

rust doesn't equate to crap, its a choice (not for everyone)

I'm with my friend Brad Ocock on this one. "Rat Rods make a statement. That statement is, I can't weld."
That said, I love traditional rods and frankly anything that is well built...finished or not.

I like the look of work in progress / unfinished rods.
Wish I had the time to start another project. Pickup would be nice.

rat rods are only rat rods if the owner says so, to me there are cars out there that are rat rods ( like my cousins) that are built to be called rat rods and are as thrown together as they can get pretty much, but those with all the painted up stuff and red accents with flat black paint or primer are just rods that arent to be the best looking car in the world and still be driven

some of them also make the statement "i spent $10k on a paintjob that was made to look like it was done with fingerpaint by the kindergarten class at the local school for the blind".

i remember the day when they were just called "hot rod projects that the builder didn't have enough money to buy good parts for and hasn't gotten around to making pretty yet".
