      What do you think?

I really like these colors and would like to 2 tone them, but I am not sure if this is quite right.

I like the color and the line chosen to break them. the "dashes" though dont look right. im thinking they should start small in the front and get bigger as they go back, and be closer together.

Tony almost took the words right out of my mouth but I would actually go big in the front then small in the back like they were breaking apart from the speed of your car.
Similar to Steve Chryssos car design. Long in front then small towards the back. Steve Chryssos 68 Camaro

Great suggestions. I will mock them up. Does anyone have a high resolution picture of a 78-81 TA that doesnt have t-tops or decals and is a lighter color without much glare? That kind of pic is really hard to find.

My thoughts were to treat the door handle as a stripe. Try starting at this point and design around it.

Yeah that is what I was trying to do with the original one. I just colored over it when I was mocking up, otherwise it would have been chrome and looked better. I will still try to incorporate it.

It is really hard to do this when there aren't many high res pics available for cars w/o decals and a light enough paint job to update the colors. I keep checking eBay hoping something will show.

I have actually seen a lot of those before. Thank you though. I guess I am looking for something more along the lines of this type of image:

      http://www.popularhotrodding.com/fre..._1280x1024.jpg

...kinda crystal clear and not too many flaws. It is a little difficult to PhotoShop a lower quality image with a lot of flaws in it.

Man. I dont know if I like what I was trying to do. I want the 2 tone but I dont know how to break it. I think this might not look as good as I had hoped.

The images are choppy and the colors arent quite right. I just threw them together in a little time, but the general idea is there. The blue and grey colors are going to be closer to the first post in this thread.

Also, dont mind the color oops in the rear of the blue and grey one. I was too lazy to finish it.

I like the colors as far as the stripe, how about doing a tearing effect like something ripping through it

The version with the dashed line reminds me too much of the AAR Cudas.

maybe a little somesing like zis? the spoiler isn't right. im thinkin maybe it should be the lower color instead of the upper.

p.s. my formie is white and gold, if you still need pictures of a light car lemme know

I really like the way you did the front nose of the color split. I was trying to think of a way to split the up there. Nicely frames the emblem. I am with you on the spoiler. I kind of like the idea you did to split them on the spoiler, but there is something that doesn't quite fit.

Are you sure you want to split the body color up like that? That car you have has a lot of curves in it. Meaning a lot of body character. A solid color might show the car off more then a two color scheme. Remember, this is just a current phase everyone is going through. Just my two cents worth. Obviously do what works for you.

Note: I too was going to do my car in two tone. After the artist did a couple of drawings he convinced me against it because of the contours of the body. I ended up with a stripe as shown instead. Good luck. R.P.

i concur heavily....which would be why i will be rocking the original white and gold, no matter how heavily built my car becomes.

Actually, I am a VW guy at heart. I am 27 years old and have had 13 VWs. My current TA is my first real 'power' car. My favorite VW colors since I was a kid was 2-toned and I guess it took. I really like the look. I think it is mostly from my love of VW Buses....but on the other hand, I can see your point of view.

Actually, I am thinking of something COMPLETELY different. The only thing I would have to change is my TT2s (so far). I will get the body in paintable shape before I make any firm commitments, but as of now, I am thinking of going industrial....brushed aluminum inserts/console, racing seats, etc...might go back to my original color of a charcoal or silver color. I also saw something I thought was cool --> diamond plated steel floor boards over the carpet....dunno though. Would be really heavy.

Nothing like trying to make up your mind.

The only thing that HAS remained consistent is that I want a 502, 6 speed of some kind (not sure which yet...probably a T56), a roll bar, Baer brakes and a Hotchkis setup. So far I have the Baers. I am such a dork.
