      Third brake light?

I'm wondering if anyone has considered installing a third brake light in the rear window from a purely safety standpoint. I would sure hate to have someone run into the car after all the work that is going in to it. I'm thinking a small LED brake light unit mounted on the package tray might be a good investment.

Third brake lights are mandatory where I live. I fabbed up my own one using an LED strip that illuminates red. I set it into some box section and mounted it in my rear package tray. Here's a (large, sorry) unmounted picture. Hella makes a range of nice third brake lights if you don't want to fab up your own.

I am taking a Viper third brake light and molding a recess into my fiberglass deck lid in order to house it. Should be cool and fit my theme.

I bought a complete new rear package tray with integrated 3rd brake light & Speaker pods for my Monte from National Parts Depot. The same thing for Camaros is part no C-15020-1A

90's Suburbans have a third brake light that would be easy to adapt to any car and mount anywhere you want- it's an LED strip about an inch tall and 18" wide that's bolted to the roof.
