Tire help

Currently have a pro street Chevelle, and looking to change the look and stance of the care. Tires are Hoosier street radials. Does anyone have any recomendation so some street rubber that is close in size? I'm fine with going to 17, 18 , 19, or 20" rims, just want to fill the wheel wells in the rear.

Check out tirerack.com. They have tons of sizes. I would put on 28" tall tire on all four corners and lower the back another 1.5". Also try this tire size calculator. http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

I think the most popular diameter will be around 26. however the new camaros and challengers are around 28 tall.

Pro-street often means a narrowed rear axle. Looks like your rear rim is very wide with a 16.5" wide tire. I don't know how you'll find a street tire to fit on that rim. Sounds like you'll not only need to change the rim and tire combo, but also put a more normal length axle back there too. As an example, a pro-touring rim and tire combo on the large size is an 18 or 19x12" rim with a 315mm width tire.

Yes the rear is narrowed and the current rims are 15x15. I'm planning on replacing the rims with something larger (18", 19" 20" ?). Just want to get a good amount of rubber in the back.

So you're going to replace the 15x15's with something like an 18x15? That's like a 375mm+ tire back there. I can't even find a street tire on tirerack with that width. I think you're going to have to look in the 315-335mm width range for a street tire and a 12" wide rim, and almost no offset to push the rim outward. I can hear the cash register ringing already.

On the tire selection, so far it looks like 335/35 /19 are the easiest to find, though I would prefer something a little larger. Clearance is not the issue I'm dealing with, trying to fill the wheel well and get the best look. A 355 with a decent amount of sidewall would be the tire I would prefer. As for rims you are correct. With the current rear end it is either custom or replace the rear. That decision will come down to which one makes the most sense.

I have been looking at the Sportsman S/R. Would be an easy fit for the car as I had MT's sportsman on it at one time. I just have not been able to find reviews on the S/R's. Does anyone have some experience with this tire. Usage will be road trips of 200 plus miles on a weekend, some roads are windy, so need them to stick in the curves
