older air ride tech shockwave question

i bought some older shockwaves that were suppose to be for a s10 i didnt care what they were for cause i am making them work for my situation.
they are a single adjustable qa1 shock that has a threaded shock housing.
the ride tech billet aluminum pieces that hold and seal the air shock surround this threaded shock.
I can see about 2 inches of threads on the shock and i would like to thread that up in the air bags further if possible. My shockwave only travels about 2 in. at the moment and i would preffer a little more travel and i think that if it was threaded in more it would allow a little more travel
I could be wrong but it looks that way and when it is deflated it is bottoming out on the chock it appears
any help would be great
