      Media blast or dip?

I am debating on whether to start my next 68 Camaro project car or just ell it and buy something done or close to done. I will have to farm out the welding and painting but I can do pretty much everything else.

One my hurdles is the body work and prep for paint. So many different people are telling me different things. My main question is: Do I have the car dipped or media blasted and then what are the steps following that before I can get it to the body shop?

      Thanks, Erik

Ask your painter/bodyman what he prefers....opinions vary

I prefer to dip a car, it gets it all clean and there isn't media falling out of the car as you are doing fab work. When we are all done with fab work we send it out and get it dipped again and it comes back e-coated. Total investment for a 2 dips and an ecoat can run between $3,500 to $5,000.

It really depends on how "far" you want to go with the car....if its just a strip and refinish with some bolt ons dip and ecoat is prolly not the answer for this car. but again ask the guy who is painting it, his opinion should carry far more weight than what any of us think.
