      71 Chevelle custom dash

Was replacing the circuit board on the back of the stock SS gauges and ran into a melted wire. Ordered up the American auto wire classic update kit and ended up with this, along with power windows and power locks from spal.

      Nice, looks great!

The only thing I did not like so much in this type of arrangement (and I had a similar setup to yours in my Monte for a while) is how the gauges are slightly angled downwards and away from the line of sight of the driver due to the curvature of the dash... That;s why I eventually bit the bullet and installed a Covans Dash Insert.
If I were to do it again, I would get one of these from Rt 66 Motorsports (gauges perfectly arranged towards the driver):

I helped a buddy install the Covan dash in his '70 El Camino, too. It looks & fits pretty good:

First off, very clean install!!! I have the Classic Dash kit in mine and I would never buy one of these overlay pieces again. I would def go with an insert like the one shown above as well.
