Need Help Installing Hurst Dual Gate Shifter

Ok guys, I feel like a real idiot asking...but I haven't A CLUE! I purchased a new Hurst Dual Gate shifter from The Parts Place, made for the '68-'69 Camaro console. I got the old horseshoe style out, and I'm attempting to install the new shifter.

First Problem.. prior to me somebody rigged up the gear selector on the side of the TH400 with a small piece of metal stock, so I purchased the correct gear selector for it... just got to figure out the correct position for it, and how it should be mounted?

Second Problem.. connected to the horseshoe shifter is a module with 3-wires connected to it, guessing neutral safety switch, do I need to hook this up for the Hurst shifter to work? Reason is I can't figure out why the car won't start, almost like it's out of gear, and not in park I guess.

Probably real simple answers to these, transmissions just aren't mine thing. Thanks for any help..

just a guess here but the 3 wires might be neutral safety, reverse lights, and a lighted gear display for the shifter....but thats just a guess without acutally seeing it.

That's correct, there's one purple, one purple with white stripe, a green one and a pink one. There is no where on the shifter to reconnect them. I feel like an idiot here.

Ok, I learned that this Hurst shifter doesn't come with a neutral safety switch or backup light connections. Little pissed that it was mentioned in the description when buying it. Is there a way to hook up a universal neutral safety switch to the Hurst shifter? I can deal w/o backup lights.

Or second way is to bypass the neutral safety switch, and connect the twp purple wires together. What is the safest way to connect the two together w/o cutting off the connection at the end?

      Any help is so appreciated!
