      What are you talking about?

If open track days some organizers require glass head lights to be taped in case they are broken.

Does nothing to protect the light. It keeps the glass connected to the car in the event something jumps up off a leading car and breaks it.

Ok, to continue the conversation, why X's and plus signs and other cool designs? Nowadays, we just cover the entire headlight.

Entire lamp is usually to protect plastic light covers from getting rock damage. X's an +'s are the cheap guys that know good tape isn't cheap. Use all thats required.

I'm not a fan of the taped up look, takes away from the "look" in cool track pics IMO. So I installed lightweight plastic headlights and grills over them.
