      throttle cable mounting

I have been using my stock throttle cable with a Holley 4150 carb and am just realizing that it doesn't open the carb wide open, it has almost a half inch of slack. I know I can buy a shorter cable or go Lokar, my question is can I just mount it using the large hole on the bracket in front of the stud? I would think that if i make a stud with some washers or something, I could utilize the large opening which is the natural lenth of the cable. What are your thoughts?

you can use the hole without any problems most times, you might need a stronger return spring, because being that high up on the throttle linkage will give you more leverage and will make the old spring feel a little light
