      Beeper for turn signals?

I have LED turn signal lights. No flasher to click, all electronics.

When doing a freeway lane change, sometimes I forget to cancel the signal, and it does not self-cancel.

I'd like to hook up a not-too-noisy tone/chime/beeper to the circuit so I don't drive along the freeway like a dummy, with my turn signal on, all the time
The old dash lights are small and dim, on a sunny day, not very noticable.

      Any ideas?

Yeah, we used a 12 volt door chime from radio shack in a 36 Ford a while back. I would think any door open, key in type buzzer would work from an oem car. It would chime when the lights would flash, it was almost pleasant.

I am pretty sure we wired it inline from the flasher to the turn sgnal switch. Chime would be dead until turn switch was engaged and then would ground through the light bulbs or in your case LED's.

You use your turn signal on the freeway? :-) I just hold the lever down until the swtich engages without "catching", let it flash 3 or 4 times and hammer down.

The 92 Olds Achieva I had would start chiming the warning chime/sound if the turn signal stayed on over a certain time. Not sure what made it work in the car, but it was probably on several GM cars, probably the ones owned by older persons mostly.

You should be able to wire the "chimer" to a relay with an adjustable time delay. I would recommend something like 60 seconds or more so you don't trigger it waiting at a red light. Check out this link - ~$30 for the relay. Set the on to 60 seconds and the off to .25 seconds.

      Thanks for the suggestions, guys.

Right now I am wiring up a (voltage reduced) city/daytime running lights circuit as I changed front headlights.
I think that I have it, but there is a night's worth of wiring up the relays.
Hope to be complete by this weekend.

Then after that I am going to hit the auto wrecker and see if I can find a nice stand alone door chime, or head over the electronics store...
