      Cooper Zeon 2xs tires

what do you think about these tires? Cooper Zeons 2SX.

I can get 2, new, never mounted 285/40/17's for 200$ down side is they are almost 3 years old.
I was told the warehouse just wants them gone.
I'm thinking of putting them on the back of my 70 Nova project. that will see about 90+% street duty. Do you think the older tires will give me any issues or should I spend the extra $ and get newer tires?

Usually tires begin degrading after 6-8 years, I have had some last almost double of that, and still look great, without any dry-rot.
I would still not trust any tire over 8-10 years old, even if never driven.
So a 3 year old tire is not a big issue, as long as you plan on not driving them forever.

The 2 tires for $200 sounds OK, but can you buy matching tires for the front? I do not mix/match tires any more, just my preference.

thanks for the input... i picked them after work today. they look great. very aggressive looking.
I was looking for some 275's and they asked if i would be interested in a good deal on some 285's..hard to turn down saving 50+$ per tire. and yes, I will get the matching fronts in a few weeks, only a bit smaller.. i think they will be 245/45/17's.
i don't like mixing tires either but do it all winter when i put my snowtires on. I've never had a serious issue, but sometimes when it's really slick i can tell the rear of the car doesn't have the same traction at the front.

Yep, depends on the conditions they were stored in. Unless they were out in the weather I wouldn't think twice about putting 3 y/o tire on my car.
