      WTB Pontiac 455

I'm looking for a 455 motor for my 1970 Pontiac Firebird. I'm not looking for anything extravagant over the top and then again I'm not looking for something that needs to be rebuilt. I want something that I can drop in the Firebird for now, drive it around and have some fun with it. And then come back after show season and maybe upgrade it some.

      thanks,
      Johnny

Too bad you didn't find me 2 weeks ago. I sold a running 455 for $600 out of a big car. I'll keep my eyes open for another one.

Yeah, I think I tried to hit you about some information on that 455 and you had already sold it. Oh well I'll keep looking. Thanks!

If your looking for something to rebuild then just look for a more common pre 75 400 block and do the stroker kit. No need to pay through the nose on a hard to find 455. You may get lucky enough to get a 400 block with some good heads like the 6X-4. The 400 stroker kits open up a lot of options from 428 up to a 505.

Yikes! I'm not sure I'd be comfortable taking a 400 standard block to 505......
'66 GTO Vert Project "Red Ink", 462ci of stroked pontiac power, TKO600, SC&C Stg II+, Tubular lowers, Currectrac Rear suspension, Moser 12bolt w/Truetrack, Wilwood Master and discs all around, too much fun for words...

Thanks for all the information. I'm continuing to look out there.

      robvanburen,

Thanks for the offer. Do you have any more details on the motor? Casting numbers? Heads? Running? Has it been rebuilt previously?
