      Pretty interesting engine design

Those are pretty slick. Where I work we have been making prototype parts for those for years. I also like the turbos we make a bunch of parts for. They look like a normal turbo but when there is not enough exhaust gas to keep them spooled up they have an electric motor in the bearing housing to do that. Once there is sufficient exhaust gases they turn the electric motor it a generator to charge the battery.

It's pretty amazing with all the tech out there now that no one has come up with a more efficient internal combustion engine yet. Could this be it???
I guess it remains to be seen.

That turbo idea seems like another one of those simple "why didn't I think of that" kind of things. I always wondered we no one ever drove one with a belt or other device for low speed and then have the exhaust gas take over. Electric motor would be even easier and making it a generator is simple but genius.

Pretty cool, maybe we will see more innovation with internal combustion engines. It looks like a variation on the Fairbanks-Morse diesel engines, but maybe a bit simpler in design.
