      Spend my money....PLEASE!

Folks I have a rather unique request...I want you to spend my money for me.

      Not on your car....mine.

As you’ve probably read GM is going to hand out profit sharing checks to all the salaried and hourly workers at the end of the month (which I’m sure some of you have mixed feelings about - as do I - but let’s save that for another discussion). I’m looking for a vendor that deals in restoration-type parts since most of my performance mods are already done. I need interior pieces (seats, dash, trim, etc.) and Exterior (bumpers, windshield, trim, etc.) who do you guys like for this stuff? I also need stuff for the brake lines and fuel system. I need a Spectra gas tank, corvette fuel regulator, need parts for my power steering. Also…who deals in Corbeau seats here?

I could go to the big companies like Summit and Classic Industries but I’d rather lend my support to some of the smaller outfits here first. I’m ready to put all this money back into the economy….who wants to help me?

      Thanks for any input.

I like your plan to spend it with the smaller guys. It's so easy to go to Summit.

I try to spread the love around too, or "pay back" some of the people who have spent time guiding me or answering my questions in the past.

I'll hold my comments to myself on GM profit sharing checks. ;)

spend the money anyway you want and people should be happy your helping the economy and not hoarding it. The small guys and ebay/craigslist sellers will appreciate it more I'm sure. Bravo. We're jealous on this side of the border by the way

My feeling is those big conglomerates have enough money.

Hoping to hear from more vendors, I would love to spread it out to more of them. Let me know what you can get me. So far I just have Driverz Inc. on board.

We handle all those parts and sell quite a bit of it. Also as a shop that builds cars, there is a number of items that can tell you to stay away from on aftermarket items and recondition originals since fit or quality can be horrible of the repop parts. PM or email me a list and will see what we can do for you.

Tony, I am not going to suggest who to buy parts from, there are certainly plenty of great companies right here. I do want to suggest this though. Buy whatever it takes to get the car drivable and street legal first. Your car has sat so close to finished for so long, get that puppy running and drive it, even if the chrome bezels or front bumper is not on. Once you do start driving the rest will fall in place.
Just a tip for the drive-it-guy!

Thanks Bill....that's the goal, get it driveable first.

Mike, I have you down. I will get a list to you as soon as I finish it up. I should have something by the end of the weekend.

I will probably let this thread go for a couple more days and once I have 3 or 4 solid vendors I will close it up. Thanks guys.

Ditto what bill said, brakes a must interior optional. The first time I drove my car I froze my A** off, it only had a windshield.

Watch the Spectra tank Tony, they supposedly have changed them but I had massive problems with them with everything from failed fuel pumps after only a couple hours (a few different tanks) to return issues not letting fuel retun freely. One customer had his split at the seams!

On your restoration stuff, Classic Industries owns OER, who makes most of the interior and trim stuff your looking for. We have been distributors since 1989! We just do not go out of our way to sell the restoration stuff, there are so many people trying to sell it it is pretty cut throat. But I would get it for you.

We are Corbeau seat and Right Stuff brake distributors also.

Wow...I didn't know that about the Spectra tanks. Good to know, thanks Frank.

What would be your next affordable option.....or is there one?

OK with Frank I got 3 on board...I can take one more. Thanks everyone.

I do not have another option in that price range, next step is Rick's. Since Spectra supposedly changed the tanks, I would suggest buying it from someone that you know will take a return easily should you have issues. I am watching what happens with the Spectra's before I jump back in. I simply won't sell what I won't install, and I won't install one till I get some glowing reports. I do not need the exercises!

Come on Tony, be our test dummy, LOL!
