The 3rd gen f-body pitman arm will not work with a 1st gen f-body. It is completely different. Use the correct year P/S pitman arm for the car that the box is going into.

mike i used a 89 pontiac formula one ws6 3rd gen box in my 72 chevelle, you have to remove the steering stops in the front and rear inside the box then youll get turning radius back to stock.use your old pitman arm and front cover from old box that round deal held in with snap ring i used lees aluminum adapters that press into box where the hoses go into and you can use your stock p/s. pump hose, thats if you have stock saginaw pump, got rag joint from lee too.give tom a call he can walk you through the process cuz when you take the box apart you have to put the ball bearings in right order there smaller, bigger order .really important or box could lock up.toms very nice and has mass skills with these steering gears.good luck.phil

I just picked up one of these for my second gen along with some aftermarket gauges that I'm hoping I can make work. About the box, does it bolt right into the holes of the old box of a second gen subframe?
