No sir. Loud is good. Nobody says you have to turn it on when you are in the mood for natural tunes. These are lightweight, take less space, and they rock. Technology is a good thing. You wouldn't be able to tell I have a bluetooth hands free kit either. The mic is in the hole left behind by the air vent hand pull. One hand on the wheel, the other on the shifter and a happy wife. Otherwise I would never have a clue if someone calls, but that is also a great thing. Stops the tunes and rings through the speakers.

They have speaker grills on them now and there is another amp on the other side too. Covered in leather and newbies don't even notice. Forget the spare tire idea though.

Ohh I love it, I am about to put 1 jl audio 10 inch w7 in my with two high power 6x9 coaxial speakers and, let the good times roll. Nice Link too

Obviously not finished yet but this is what done so far:



After it's finished all you'll see are the small square centers of each amp where the JBL logo is.

I have a single 12" Kenwood 1200W sub that I have facing the rear seat behind the amps. I have 4 speakers then on each door. 1" tweeter, 4" mid-bass, 6.5" woofer and a 5.25" coaxial speaker. I have everything being powered from the stock head unit to keep things as low key as possible. Thankfully back in my younger days when I installed an aftermarket head unit I kept my original stereo. It's tape deck has been screwed up for years and years so I pulled it apart, cut a few wires and installed an aux input for an MP3 player that will get hidden under the compartment door for the ashtray.

I've fired it up a few times to see how it sounds and it's absolutely one of the cleanest sounding systems I've ever had. Pretty amazing considering it's a hodge podge of parts.

I'm going to need every bit of volume from this system to hear it over the engine.

Here's the first and only box I've ever built. It's mounted under the package tray and fires up through the factory speaker hole. It's painted in factory trunk spatter to blend in as much as possible. It's about 1.25' sealed with a 12" DVC Image Dynamics sub. I've got Phoenix Gold amps mounted on either side now.

Looks nice. Just curious why, if those speakers are only 2.5" thick, you need so much room for them. whats on the other side besides an amp? Im consolidating my 3 10's down to a single 10" for reduced weight and luggage space.

Yes that's a bandpass box. I've got maybe $200 into the box, sub and material to cover the trunk LOL.

Yeah, I was going to mention it didn't look like a bandpass box.

When I was younger I had two 10" subs in a bandpass box.

Looked very similar to this:



The subs fired at each other inside a sealed enclosure in the center and the rear of the subs were in a separate enclosure that was ported like you see.

I've found bandpass boxes to be good if you like really "boomy" style bass. Where as a sealed box like I have my current sub gives you tigher, crisper bass and I believe a ported box like yours above falls somewhere in between the two. Obviously speaker size will play a role in the sound as well.
