I didn't take the mention of any city in a derogatory way. The commercial mentions New York city, The Windy City, Sin City, and Emerald City. I think that was all done as a setup for Eminem's line "This is the Motor City." Very emotion driven, great advertising!

As for the comments about UAW, let's leave that for another discussion. There are several threads in the "off-topic" area that deal with this subject and I'd rather it not be discussed here. The point of this thread is to discuss this ad, so let's stick to that.

I thought it was awesome although I was a little disappointed in the fact that it was for the 200. A super badass 300c doing giant smokey donuts at the end and it would of won an emmy for sure.....or what ever kick ass commercials win, it would of won that.

I guess I am in the minority since I thought the commercial was dumb. But I guess the whole american pride thing was tainted by them being owned by fiat.
I am not useless, I can still be used as a bad example!

Yeah, I really liked this commercial. I think Chrysler is on the right track w/ this car. It's a good sized small-family type of car, much like a Pontiac Grand Am (and we know how much that car did for GM over the decades $$$$)... I hope Americans will start looking back to Detroit for their autos.

I loved the commercial! Being in Europe I hadn't really seen much of the car but after a quick google, I really like it. I agree with the statements that this is a car Chrysler needs, I just hope it's priced to sell...

I loved the commercial. Although the feelings the commercial evokes don't necessarily match what is happening in the city, I think it's great for the city and Chrysler. I do think they should have shot it with the "Super S" version though...

I see a Sebring. Where's the cool car at? Great commercial, though they should've used a 300.

I grew up near Detroit and lived there for three years. I think the commercial nailed the tough, gritty spiirit of the town and I like it a lot.

Sorry Chrysler, Eminem isn't going to sell me a car.

Convince me you can get 30+mpg with a mid-size car, a water pump failure isn't going to destroy the whole engine, and that you've finally figured out how to build a transmission... then MAYBE I'll buy a Chrysler.

Since seeing the commercial I think of that giant fist and forearm every time I see or here the word Detroit. I would guess that trying to sit on top of it could land someone in a bit of trouble?

      Forthe sake of technical accuracy-

      Fiat owns 25% of Chrysler
The UAW (yes, that UAW) owns just a little less than 65% of Chrysler.
The US Federal (9.2%) and Canadian Federal and Provincial governments own 2.3% of Chysler
Chrysler owes $5.8 Billion to the US Government and $1.3 Billion in addition to the US and Canadian stock shares. Interest rates vary between 7% and 20.4%.

After repayment of the loans, Fiat can acquire an additional 16% of Chrysler. When Chrysler start building cars getting 40mpg in the US AND sell $1.5 Billion in Chrysler's outsideof North America ,they can acquire and additional 10% of Chrysler.

Source of detail information on the loans and requirements is the Detroit Free Press. Ownership numbers are available from multiple sources including Wikipedia

      And more to the mix...

"vMILAN, Feb 8 (Reuters) - The following factors could affect Italian markets on Tuesday.

Reuters has not verified the newspaper reports, and cannot vouch for their accuracy.

New items are marked with (*).

FIAT (FIA.MI) Industry Minister Paolo Romani said Fiat boss Sergio Marchionne would meet with Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi on Saturday following comments the CEO made saying he wanted to move the carmaker's headquarters to the United States after merging with Chrysler. [ID:nLDE71627G]

Moving Fiat headquarters from Turin to Detroit would not only cost Italy in lost taxes but also cost the company several billion euros under rules allowing shareholders to exit the stock, MF said in a unsourced report. "

Don't forget that Sergio Marchionne holds dual citizenship in Italy and Canada
