I liked the commercial but was disappointed When I realized it was about that car. Think it would have had more of an impact if that had used a Challenger or a Viper (If they hadn't sold that line).

Good commercial and that's a really good looking car. I hope it does well.

Advertising is all about stirring people's emotions. Judged on that criterion, the Chrysler commercial was a huge hit! I got goosebumps when I saw it, even for the second...third...forth...heck..every time.

I really like the string of new Mopar commercials, but every time I see them, I think of the reality, a bunch of drunk, stoner UAW guys building cars and getting paychecks they don't deserve.

      And I'm a mopar guy.

And that is putting it nicely.

These morons are the very small minority. The vast majority of autoworkers are no different than you, busting their balls to provide for their families while looking over their shoulders waiting for the economy to give them another kick in the nuts, just as it has for the last thirty years.
Like Andrew, I too get goosebumps every time I watch the commercial.

It was as much an advertisement for MoTown as Chrysler. It certainly caught my attention. Not interested in a rebadged sebring even if they did make it look a lot nicer.

I really thought the Commercial is tasteful and hits home.. I would also be interested to know what Eminem got for his role in the commercial.. I do understand he is Detroit all the way, and I think he may have stepped up to promote his home town...

Yeah, because nobody like that works for Ford or GM or Toyota. Or in the banking, construction, or food services industries. Or cops or gardeners or postmen. Or teachers or pilots or the DMV. Yeah, those guys all work for Chrysler.

I liked the commercial, as much for the car as the city. I think it did good on both points.

Dan, what you just did was repeat a stereotype that could not be any further from the truth. It makes me sick that people still hold on to this one. I get the whole "hate for the UAW" thing but this oft-used generalization of the men and women who build our cars has just got to stop already. Are there bad apples in the UAW? Of course there are.....just like there are bad apples in any line of work you go into. It may have been different 20 years ago but I can promise you that today, for every bad apple in the UAW there are 400 others who work their asses off, care about their company and don't take naps behind stacks of tires or blow coke on their lunch hour.

Honest to God this stupid, antiquated stereotype needs to have a wooden stake driven into it's heart once and for all.

For the rest of you, thanks for the kind words. Although I don't work for Chrysler, I was born in Detroit and have grown up in it's suburbs my whole life. I have had scathing words in the past for this city, but I believe the best is yet to come. This town will come back one day....and it's already on it's way.

I hope this was said in jest because if serious it is one of the more ridiculous statements I've read on this forum. Let's for the moment pretend we live in an alternate universe and what you said is true. The behavior of worker bees didn't have anything to do with the near catastrophic demise of 2 of the big 3. The workers only build, both in terms of product and quality, what the boneheads who ran these companies dictated. I say this from the perspective of a business owner, its my job to provide a clear vision, attainable goals and make sure everyone who works for me is with the program. By the way, I had read somewhere that the average German male gets 25% of his protein intake from beer. How's that working out for the German car companies?

I think it was a well done commercial, showing the best of Detroit and the kind of bread-and-butter car Chrysler needs, a mid size sedan.
doesn't make sense to tout the viper or other niche vehicles; they need good regular cars that regular people buy.
it seems the 'new' 200 is a refined sebring, has new engines, etc and that a completely new car is due in another 2 years or so.

I agree the steroetype is getting old. In every industry and sector you'll find people using drugs and alcohol. Yes I'm an autoworker on the Canadian side. Most people, not all, but most work our butts off everyday for a better life for our families. Most of us don't like the job but realize we are lucky and grateful for a well paying job. The jobs have really changed in the last 4 years. on any given day you may be doing 4 different jobs.No more "thats not my job",at least at Ford here. By the way,one criteria for landing the job 17 years ago was they were looking for college/university educated, high school didn't cut it any more.I was toolmaker, for 9 years before I jumped at the money at Ford.
The commercial showed downtown Detroit, noticed they didn't show Ford field. Very nice area, unfortunately when we do go in the evening we still won't venture outside the immediate downtown core,or we'll get on the freeway and drive past Detroit. We wish Chrysler to do well because here they are the biggest employer and I have friends, neighbours and family that work there and I'd hate anyone losing their job.

I like the commercial... but WTF is with bagging on Seattle though: "And we're certainly no one's emerald city." Guess Seattle isn't much of a Chrysler town... or at least now they won't be.
