Rear window question (and SoCal help!)

I need to reseal the rear window in the Nova, and I've always been told to just have a professional do it because the glass can break, and it has to be set just right, etc, etc. The problem is, there's a small hole in the metal surrounding the window, so I need to weld that up while the window is out. I highly doubt a shop that just does windows will be willing (or able) to do some welding.

So I'm wondering, how hard is it, really, to remove and reinstall a rear window?

If it's something that truly should be left to pros, does anyone have any recommendations for shops in SoCal that will come do it (and maybe do some welding?)? The car isn't drivable so it has to be done at my place.

      Matt

Why not have a place come remove it for you. You can do the repair and then have them come back and install it. I don't know if they will guarantee that they will not break the glass getting it out. I am sure you could get it done like this. You may have to look at custom glass shops instead of the on site glass replacement guys.

I did my own on my nova the the butyl rubber without a problem. I let it sit in the sun and get hot so I could push it out from the inside and slide a guitar string in there and use that to cut it out. If you had it resealed with urethane then you have to use a knife to cut out a spot before the string goes in. Lining it up wasnt a problem just use the blocks that come with the butyl on the stands and its done.
