73 Firebird which motor?

I have 73 Firebird that I'm very close to doing the motor in. It currently has a Pontiac 455 (.30 over) with a TCI TH400. The car has a 6 point cage, (install next week) BMR Gen II Torque Arm suspension, DSE minitubs & SFCs, 9in w/3.50 gears. The front suspension has not been decided on yet. The car will be driven alot in nice weather, auto-x, and see track days. I have a 6 speed for it and EFI is a must!! I have a 6.0ltr LS with LS3 heads and a 496 (minus a few parts). Which motor would be all around best.....reliability is a MUST!! Thanks in advance!!Attachment 43943

6.0 LS block, RHS LS heads, RHS/FAST LS Intake, FAST throttle body and efi system. For rotating assembly Compstar or K1 crank and rods (imports but imo much better than Scat or Eagle which I refuse to use) and Mahle Power Pak pistons.

Either one. Just depends on how much money you want to spend. The LS motor is an impressive piece but the 455 belongs in there. Adapting the new technology (six speed, efi, etc.) to the old engine is the expensive part. Mine will keep a 455 Pontiac or something Pontiac in it because that's my preference. You should do what makes you happiest.

Gentlemen, thanks for your input! I've been torn between the 455 and LS for many years now. My 01 WS6 has ALOT of mods and it is such a RUSH to drive and race, the LS motor has been very impressive to say the least! The torque from the 455 is awesome, most people think is has a BBC in it. I've still got time to decide, thanks again for the input!!
