Pro Engine Builders and their Textbooks
Hi, I'm going to rebuild a chevy 6 cylinder. I've never rebuilt an engine entirely and I want to find out from the pro-builders what textbooks they've studied that gave them the core fundamentals of engine theory and building.
All the other books online seem to skim over a lot of basics and seem suited for casual reading for tips and tricks and not engine basics.

Otherwise, a stock-type manual (factory, chiltons, haynes) will cover all the basic rebuilder stuff.

First book I bought about 5 years ago when I was just getting started. Good understanding of all the basics of parts, machining, assembly, and modification.

Between this and a good shop manual you can have more than you need to take you through not only assembly but getting exactly what you want and need from the machine shop.
