      Which Tire?

I am in the market for a new set of tires and I would like to hear from some of the guys that have tried various brands for autocrossing our cars. I have a 73 Camaro with Pro-Touring F-Bodies control arms, springs, subframe connectors and G-braces. I am running 17 x 8 up front and 17 x 9.5 in the rear. I am currently running 235/45-17 and 275/40-17 but I would like to squeeze a little wider tire in there if possible. I have been looking at Kuhmo Ecsta XS, Nitto NT05, BFG KDW and Michelin PS2. Which of these offer the best bang for the buck and which offer best performance?

Tirerack not only has reviews, but also has comparison tests for some brands.

We've put a lot of cars out there on the new Nitto NT05 and everyone has been very happy with them. Bad news is though they are on perpetual back order until next year!

      Yeah, sucky.

So, we've been on the hunt for the last few months for similar sizes in a good performing tire, and we've had great success with Falken in the 615K, Hankook V12, Kumho, and Dunlop as well.

In the sizes you posted, here are some options:

      Kumho XS (180 UTQG):
      245/45/17 and 275/40/17 at $572/set

      BFG KDW2 (300 UTQG)
      245/45/17 and 275/40/17 at $668/set

Falken 615K (200 UTQG which is PERFECT)
      245/45/17 and 275/40/17 at $688/set

I would recommend the Falkens to you.

I run the Nitto Nt555. Happy with them. I have a set of NT-05's for next year. I have also ran Nitto's drag radials and loved them. I buy mine early in the winter and usually get them.

I'm thinking about the NT05's for the falcon as well. I know where there are some but would like to know what people think of them before I pull the trugger.

Also is it true the Kumho XS is being replaced by the XSKU36 which is like 25% more?
