Really awesome project! Just read through the whole thread and it is a good bit of inspiration! It appears that while you are very good at the panel work you dont seem to enjoy it much,(just from some comments you've made) it is something I am not looking forward to, any tips you've learnt for a newbie to the cut and shut proffesion? I was wondering if you use different wire to do panel work to other structural work? Keep up the good work your on the down hill run now and im sure im not alone in looking forward to the updates! Thanks for sharing.

If I could do it over again, I would have bought a Tig welder to start with. I just bought one a few weeks ago and it sure works great on thin steel with little to no grinding when you're done. The non stop welding, grinding, warping, hammering, shrinking, welding, grinding, warping routine got old really fast. The tig would have forced me to do a bit better fitting, and would have saved me a hundred hours of messing around making a mess. The other tool I bought after the fact is an english wheel. In reality I should have shaped and tig'd the panel roughly into shape, cut the whole 1/4 panel off strategically, english wheeled it smooth and perfect, and tig'd it back on. Maybe next time! lol





As far as the mig wire, I tried 023 and 035, and really didn't have much preference between the two.
