      Corvette Concept

This may be old but I have never seen this car before. It was at the El Segundo (SoCal) Car Show today.

Isn't that just a body kit? I swear that there's another one around that's white. I think that they were trying to get it built by GM. I don't remember where I heard that one though. I also don't remember the company's name that makes it. Looks really good though.

Personally, I don't like it. Then again, I'm not a huge fan of the retro thing as a whole anyway. I think the C5 looks better the way it was designed, the body kit detracts from it.

      Corvette....

The company that builds those is local here in Detroit called AAS (Advanced Automotive Services I believe)that will convert your Corvette over to the "53" style body. There are several cars here in Metro Detroit, I believe when I talked to the owner last they had converted about 30 cars or so. They look really cool in person. I believe they cost approx. 25K plus your vette. I like them, they are very well done.

There was a white one I saw on the Power Tour at the Tulsa stop. Don't like the black one but the white one looks great. I remember a plaque on the dash how the company tried to get GM to build it for their 50th Anniversary car. Oh yeah, it also mentioned bringing a dumptruck full money when you left them your car.

      Mike,

The 50th anniv. thing is exactly what I heard. There were some rumors that it WAS going to be the 50th anniversary Vette.

I'm pretty sure the cost est. Jeff provided is accurate, it's not a body kit, but rather almost a whole new body. The only thing that looks stock is the doors.

One of the big corvette guru's around here said that was supposed to be the anniversary vette, but GM didn't wanna pay his price for for it.He told me it is a new body not just a kit. Also the vette has to be brand new and NO ZO6's .He also keeps all the parts that are changed out plus what it costs to do the conversion.

personally......I think its absolutly AWESOME! the main reason is becuase my 2 favorite year vettes are the 53 and the newer 2000 and up body styles. I seen a white one last year...it was the first and only one Ive seen in person. they had it at frankenmuth Michigan show. sweeeet car!

Its a VERY EXPENSIVE body kit to convert your C5 vette.. I seem to recall it being in the $50k range for the conversion.. the backend is a bit strange looking..

I would personally prefer to take the C5 drivetrain and suspension and put it in a 56-60 vette

I passed a silver one of those on Vineyard Ave. in Pleasanton about 2 months ago and was wondering what the heck it was. If I wasn't late for an apointment I would have flipped a 180 to get a better look. Thanks for the info...
