      pole building ventilation

Last fall I built a steel pole building for storage and a shop.
One half of the building is well insulated (perhaps to "tight"?) and is heated by an overhead gas heater.

During the humid Summer months I am having issues with to much moisture on the finished/insulated shop side of the building.
I don't have any visible signs of condensation.
If I open the overhead door for a short period of time the humidity drops off significantly.

I am thinking that I need to install some sort of vents in order to exchange the air. I would prfer not to have anything mechanical.
Possibly install a vent at ceiling height and one at floor level??
Would need to be able to close these vents during the months that I heat the shop.

      Any thoughts or ideas??

      Thanks!

      Scott

Take a leaf out of how a teepee (sp?) works...vented at the floor level and at the tip of the canopy....you sound like you need some airflow. you could try one or two of those revolving roof ventilators, with a hinged flap over the inside you can close in winter....matched with some lower wall vents you can also close over in winter.

We have the same problem in our wick building that we finnished the inside of. We now run a dehumidifier during the warmer months.

Is there an uninsulated attic above the insulated part of the shop?.....if there is you can put in a rotating type or standard style roof vent and not need to close it in the winter.....or you could install some grilles in the peak(s) and not have to cut a hole in your roof
