      65 chevelle dash bezel

I want a custom dash in my 65 chevelle. I like how this dash has the flush/recessed look to it. Where should I be looking? Custom fab?
this example is out of a 70's chevy pick up, but I like the look

thanks, I've seen these. I'm just not sure that this will give that custom look that I'm looking for. It kinda looks like cheap plastic. I wonder if it would look good with a little paint and body?

I think that the best one out there is from mertom, take a look:

saw their products at Columbus this summer, really impressed. Spent my time at Joliet last weekend training them on our instrument line, real nice folks too.

it looks like cheap plastic because it is cheap plastic, and very flimsy. Paint and body wont fix the cheap material use.

I'm afraid it looks like I'll have to go full custom for the look I'm after.

If the above piece was not-so-cheap plastic would you be interested? I've heard that the guy who's original design that was broke off from that company and came back with his own (but very similar looking) product. Trust me, I'm looking for the same piece on the same car and right now there's either stock or the above. I have some ideas to make it look slightly better but I know how nice it WOULD be if there was already something out there.

would it be hard to just fiberglass over the cheap plastic to make it stronger and then paint it?

I don't think that would work. You could take a mold of the plastic part and make a fiberglass or carbon fiber version.

Never seen one up close but I don't know if it's as bad as it looks. I've heard about fitment issues on the OLDER versions but never heard a complaint about the feel of them. It's probably just the fact that it looks sort of plain without everything in. I think once it was in with all the hardware it would look better. I've seen sheetmetal slapped on some dashes that looked WAY worse.
