Anyone used late model remote keyless entry?

On their project? Wondering how hard it would be to hook it up to a car that has existing power locks & trunk.

I had a universal one years ago & never did like the remote fob, always thought the factory remote fobs were a better design.

      Scot,

If you like the OE fobs, you can always look up Bulldog Security. Their units have fobs that look like the OE ones and I've heard they work decently well too even though they look a bit cheap. I'm going to buy one for my 87 IROC one of these days. As far as I can tell, Amazon has the best price on them.

      GeoffP, Found this: http://www.amazon.com/Bulldog-KE1702...5121335&sr=1-9

I guess I haven't looked at them in a while. These look much better than the one I had a few years back.

I have been installing the Bulldog stuff lately, the quality is MUCH better than before.
And basically they A2c,Bulldog from Pep Boys are same setup, all companies are connected. Python(I have 991 remote start/alarm on my Cav and it works great and has some cool features and will also do trunk, door, etc.
BUT you get more and better for the cash spent.
DEI, or Directed Electronics owns Python,Avital,Viper,Bulldog, etc.
My alarm/remote start set up is sold in the $550 range, has like a mile range.
The Bulldog stuff is MUCH better than it was 10 yrs ago.
The simple addon power doorlock/trunk set up are well under $100, pretty easy to install. I do recommend forgoing the recommended tap/wrap/tape and actually solder your connections, and no scotch locks.

      Scot,

I thought you'd probably be surprised by what you saw. I know I was. I had the Bulldog kit recommended to me for my IROC and my full size 95 truck. The guy I know has had one in his 3rd gen Firebird for 3-4 years with no problems the last I knew.
