      bird poop stain

I'm sure someone out there has run into this problem. I unfortunately got some bird poop on the hood of my nova and didn't get it off in time. The poop seems to have etched itself into the clear coating. Anyone have some remedies to try. Thanks in advance.

I too have this problem on my deck lid, and still looking for a solution.

Don't beat yourself up over not getting it off in time. I immediately attacked my terradactyl dropping with some quick detailer but it still etched a ghost like image into the clear. Some polish has helped, but I can still see it.

Have you tried going over it a number of times carefully with 3M Imperial Hand Glaze? Sometimes I've found that can work.

i used some Turtle wax Premium Rubbing compound on my belair which was pretty heavily oxidized, along with a poop stain and it worked great, shined up the car and removed the stain. worked good enough that we tried on my wifes mini that also had a stain and took it right off.

      here's a link to what i used:

You will have to wetsand and buff that area if you want it to be smooth, you can get away with just buffing, but that depends on how deep the acid has etched into the clear

Had this same thing happen to my freshly painted roof. Some 2000 grit and a buffer got most of it out, it's still there but you can really only see it at an angle in the right light so I didn't go any further and risk hurting the clear.

Use a piece of mixing stick wrapped in sandpaper or a block to make sure the sanded area is smooth that way it'll be smooth

Thanks guys for the suggestions. I was trying to avoid wet sanding if I could b/c I didn't have the car painted and don't know how thick the clear is on the car. Plus, I haven't done much paint and body work so just a little nervous about ruining the paint.

You can try using claybar and polish or just polish and see how it turns out

Tried the clay bar already no luck. Going to try the turtle wax compound next. Then I guess I'll wet sand.

clay wont do it. Do what Stefan has been saying. Sand it with fine grit paper using a block and water and buff it out with wool pad and follow up with foam pad. Just use light pressure. You should be okay if you don't get carried away and try to sand it way down. Just do as little sanding as possible.

Don't use rubbing compound by hand, I have never been able to avoid making a gom.
