Ran at my first autocross this weekend

This weekend my home town was hosting the international mustang meet and as part of the event they were holding an autocross run today. So since I was already registared for the car show I decided to run in the autocross anyways with my Roush.
      Now I am hooked

For my first event I feel that I did fairly well, but I really have some work to do on driving my car. Went from a first run time of 71.7 seconds and my last run of the day was 57.1, so my driving and picking of lines was coming around.

Let Joel, who was running the fastest laps all day(54.76) run my car for one lap and he ran 55.01 so I have a bit of room for improvement. I figured out that I need more brake, stickier front tires and about another 50 rwhp.

But the car performed great and for my first event I am super happy with how I did and how much I enjoyed running. I can see why people here are hooked!

I should have some pictures to post in the next couple days. Its really hard to take pics when you go to an event on your own

Sounds like a good time... welcome to the addiction. Just a warning though: it's all down hill from here. First it's just more brake, stickier tires, a little more hp. Next thing you know, you own $100+ tire pressure gauge, start removing the interior, have been through 3+ different suspension setups, and are trying to convince your significant other that you need a _____ so you can shave another couple tenths off your time. And every time you approach a road construction area, you'll look for the apex point the ideal line through their cones. Ask me how I know.

I take a long-cut to work everyday to play on some twisty roads. It is an addiction.

... and don't forget the part about when you realize the first car you spent all the money on, now just isn't fast enough any more, and you have to buy a SECOND car. Ask me how I know that!!!

      or just four John......

You know it is a real disease when you start looking for the apex when driving a 4 ton stakebed truck.

More brakes, better tires, more power.

You'll keep saying that until you sell it....

      haha so true!

Just wait until the second car breaks and you have to go back to the first. You'll have thoughts of upgrading or buying something newer and faster, ask me how I know!

<--- raises hand... every day, every corner, every car, all the time. I got stopped by an officer recently after he clocked me doing 42mph (in a 30mph zone) around a fairly tight traffic circle here in Sarasota... in our '07 Honda Odyssey.

Even worse is when you realize you could be FASTER in an STS prepped Miata that costs less than the rear axle in your musclecar. :o

I live out in the country and about two miles from my house is a traffic circle that doesn't see too much use... I use it as a skid pad for my Chevelle!
