      backspacing question

would about 6.5 inches of back spacing in the rear and 5.9 or 6 inches in the front work on a stock wheel well 69 camaro? the rims will be, front--18x8.5 with 255/35r/18 (+30 offset) and the rears-- 18x10 with 275/40r/18 (+25 offset) or the same rim dimensions on rear with wider tires. please help -Dom

too much back. about 3/4" too much front and rear. if you really like the wheels, spacers are an option.

5.5" back spacing is the most you are going to get away with, assuming your frame is stock.

so i went on this site, http://www.rimsntires.com/rt_specs.jsp i know that the rears will be at 6.5 backspacing and im about 1" off from 5.5 backspacing in the rear to be a good fit, but i can get 1" spacers off ebay for that. and as for the front im at 5.9 backspacing which is about 1/2" -3/4" off in the front which i can get spacers for as well. i have a set of rims on now that require 1 1/4" spacers so i will switch them out for new ones. but will this work with the required spaces and will the tires look ok on those size rims? please any help is greatly appreciated. -Dom

Ha, I almost bought those same wheels last month but decided not to. Personally I wasnt comfortable running spacers that big, and that the wheels were a slightly different bolt pattern, otherwise those wheels would already be on my car.

^^ alowerlevel, im already running 1 1/4 " spacers as we speak, so running these wheels will require even smaller spacers. so its kind of better in a way. i have the tires for them on my other wheels, i just want to pick these up and swap them out with my old rims. the rims i have now are very flush and have a small polished lip but nothing else on my car is chrome or polished just red and black. so they look kinda funny and these would look killer on my car. and they are affordable for a college kid lol -Dom

Completely understandable, Thats the same reason I was gonna buy them, cause it was gonna be a cheap way for me to get 18x10's and 295's on all 4 corners but I just didnt feel comfortable using 1" spacers on my 4000+lb car. Now if my car was lighter it wouldnt have been a big problem for me and I would have used them.

you guys are running adapters correct? Adapters bolt to hub studs then wheels bolt to adapter studs.

I think that 1 inch is about the smallest thickness adapter that you can use. That way you can have the correct bolt pattern. Up front, if you are only going to be using a spacer, you will probably want to buy hub centric rings since these wheels are for BMW's and are hub centric. I like the look of the wheels. Get us some pics up. What wheels are you taking off?

the wheels i have now are ROH international Modenas , they are a 3 piece wheel i think. they came off a 99 bmw m3 i bought as a project that was never completed so i sold it and kept the rims. but i reallly want to know for sure if these other rims will fit before i order a set. heres my build thread if you want to take a look at the wheels. -thanks Dom
