Hydratech Hydroboost Question

When installing the Hydratech Hydroboost unit on a GM A body is there a seal that goes between the adapter plate and firewall or should there be a rubber boot? I'm instaling it now and I think there should be some kind of seal but nothing was included. Also, when installing a Wilood master cylinder do you neeed to use the sleeve supplied with the master cylinder to align the pushrod or do you install the master cylinder without it?

no seal on the firewall. no experience with Wilwood master other than I know they come with a slug to adapt the plunger rod from deep to shallow depending what unit it is bolted too is set up for.

No supplied gasket between the adapter plate and the firewall, but I made up my own for the HB install I am presently in the middle of ..

There is a rubber boot on the backside of the HB unit that goes over the brake pedal push rod and goes around the back of the HB unit.

I suppose we could update the system instructions to state that the use of some clear RTV silicone around the firewall pass through hole is up to the installer's discretion. We have actually found that gasket materials of common nature, such as foam rubber, can create some minor firewall sheetmetal distortion when the booster assembly is torqued down, also not providing a clear and consistent feel of the fasteners achieving final torque.

The rubber boot supplied with the Wilwood MC should be placed into your parts stash - I do not advise you attempt to install it onto the backside of the brake unit, as it could actually cause more harm than good. The interior compartment is actually very clean as compared to the underhood, and most all OEM hydroboost installations do not use any type of dust boot as such.

my 84 Regal T Type has a rubber boot that goese between the booster and firewall to seal it off- it also channels fluid out thru the drain hole in them ounting bracket and out of the cabin in the event that the rear seal on the booster goes out. my leaky booster would have made one hell of a mess in the car without that boot.
