      65 Tempest window felts

Can anyone get me a source to get a set of 65 Pontiac Tempest hardtop (non-post)window felts. BESIDES Legendary !! ordered them 10 weeks ago and the customer service person ,after promising them delivered in 3 weeks, then 4 then 6 then 8 now says the vendor he buys them from has no idea when they will be ready. They are NOT the same as a 65 GTO, I know because I bought a set already and those don't fit. Any help will be greatly appreciated

he probably orders his felts thru a company called Repops (best felts made) and they had some product problems (a huge manufacturing failure) that lasted almost 2 months but about 2 weeks ago they started up manufacturing again and are starting fill those back orders ask your vendor to try again

Repops come in 2 different price ranges and quality. If you get the lesser of the 2 you may not like them. The better quality and higher price of the good ones is more than worth it. Most people and suppliers don't know or don't care to let you know you have a choice. I got the good ones for my Camaro and they were identical to my originals.

You might want to check what you got. The window felts for a '65 GTO hardtop are exactly identical to a '65 Tempest hardtop. Absolutely no mistake there. There is not a single, solitary difference of any kind.

I beg to differ since I had a set already that my brother ordered and they DID Not fit,Wait actually the inner felts do fit but the outers tabs dont even come close to lining up. I ordered another set that said Lemans, Tempest,GTo also did not fit. Legendary lists separate part #'s for Lemans and Tempest so hopefully these ones will work- If I ever get them.

There is absolutely no difference in the body components of a Tempest, GTO and/or LeMans. Period. Only badging and trim.

My guess is that you got poor quality aftermarket felts that don't fit any of the above.

Legendary does NOT list them as separate part numbers. They confuse you by LISTING them separately, but look closely at the part numbers and you'll see...

      Directly copied from Legendary:
      1965 GTO & LeMans
      WS65GGOWINDO WH
      (Hardtop)....... $105.00/kit

      WS65GGOWINDO WC
      (Conv.).......... $105.00/kit

      WS65GGOWINDO WS
      (Sports Cpe).... $105.00/kit

      1965 Tempest
      WS65GGOWINDO WH
      (Hardtop)....... $105.00/kit

See, the part numbers are EXACTLY the same. There is absolutely no possibility whatsoever that a '65 GTO hardtop would have a different window felt than a '65 Tempest or LeMans hardtop. The sheet metal, frame, glass and doors are absolutely, completely, and totally identical.

that is directly copied from legendary- the tempest last 2 letters are TH not WH so hopefully they are different and will fit- I assumed the part would be the same and only different for the post model, but the pre punched hooks DO NOT line up. I think it may have something to do with the beltline molding that is on the GTO and not the tempest-but am am certainly no expert- I will try these again but I'm pretty sure I cannot make the hooks line up. These are PUI felts bought from OPGI

Now I'm really interested. You can see what I copied and pasted directly from the Legendary site, and there were no extra letters. I've also never ever seen a difference of this type between GTO, LeMans and/or Tempest between '64-67. The PY forum doesn't reference it, and it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

HOWEVER, just for kicks I checked on pysales (performance years sales) and they DO list a different part - which happens to be in stock. Part number RPM16A is available.

If I were you I'd call Performance Years and ask them directly. If you find out that they are really different, please post what the difference is. Since the moldings do not affect the window sweep placement or fitment, it would be a very interesting question to try and track down. If they're different I'd also post a question on the PY forums to see if anybody knows why. There are some REAL old timer poncho guys there that know where many of the skeletons are buried. I'd bet serious money that if this is the case, you could make some serious bar money at a pontiac event. If it's correct, you could certainly have taken some from me!

thanks for the pysales info I will order them tomorrow and since I still have one of thePUI set I will photo and post any differences that I can see. As I said before I am no expert but all I can think is that the beltline molding has something to do with it, since that is the only difference between the doors .Thanks again for the source info

well I got the new window sweeps in and right on the box it says 65 pontiac tempest SEDAN (a post car for those who dont know) They are a PUI product . So of course I call cust service and explain how the website specifically states hardtop and "will not work on sedan" they call the vendor and say "yup your right they wont work on your car, our website has it backwards, and they DO NOT make Tempest hardtop felts, the difference is the beltline molding that the GTO has ,but if you have your originals they will make a set for you" well I dont have my originals. anyone got a set kickin around??

I guess they mean the difference is the beltline molding that the GTO and LeMans have and the Tempest does not?

      tempest window felts

Hi all, new to the forum, and wanted to helpout with the window felt issue. the tempest does not use belt line moldings like gto and lemans, that is why the felts don't line up on the outside. the original tempest felts have the same mounting style as the belt line moldings. I sent a set of originals to repops and they sent me a set and they are perfect, try contacting them for their distributor.Hope this helps
