Those carbon parts make me melt. So beautiful, and so light.

Although we have no idea how light, since we're still waiting for weights. The cosmetics are unbelievable though.

It's a jack point pad. Steve said they put it there to make sure the exhaust doesn't get screwed up by some jackazz.

This shot shows how the floor has been modified to clear the driver's side exhaust as it turns up and over the torque arm and through the rocker panel

Here's the bottom of the same area. You can also see that the cross member where the front of the arm attaches has been notched on top to allow for the oval tube exhaust to clear over it.

What's that tell you, when a full carbon hood still weighs in at 24 lbs.? Stock freaking hood must weigh a ton!

Picked up the hood and fenders from Mick today and I fit the mesh screens I made into the hood. The hood turned out really nice. I'll get pics of the fenders later, but they are very nice too.

Back side is satin carbon fiber like all of the exposed carbon fiber on the car.

This build is amazing, I can't wait to see the finished product.

The foam you used to shape the bumper, is there a particular foam that is best to use when doing this? Thanks Matt.

I think high density foam, like what is found in surf boards is the best. I too am curious because last time I did any kind of foam modeling I had to use that two part stuff that expands like crazy (I forget its name) and I remember wishing it was finer.

Matt, the car is really taking shape, and that hood looks amazing, actually everything looks amazing, the textures, finishes, and other details going into the theme are all so cohesive its unbelievably understated for what you guys have done. I wasn't sure what to think of the hood before paint because the peak is just so iconic to me, but damn it doesn't look sharp now. I'm going to have to dedicate an afternoon to looking at all of the little details at SEMA.

      Matt

Polyurethane foam is best, because it's easy to shape and polyester resin (fiberglass resin) won't make it melt like it does with polystyrene foam. Polyurethane foam is what is used in surfboards. Surfboards usually use about an 8 lb. density which is easy to shape, but a little flimsy and hard to keep an edge. The foam that I used on this bumper pattern was about a 12 lb. density or so (I'm not sure, because we had it laying around our shop and it seemed about right for what I wanted).

Here's a cool little detail. Steve put a battery shut off in the trunk that has a cable to actuate it remotely from the driver's seat.

Watch the valve covers on these engines. They seem to like to puke oil after they have been heat cycled a few times, even after retorqing everything. My friends Kause Nine does this all time and weve ended up replacing the gaskets on a regular basis.

Here's a nice touch. It's a map light (between the sun visors) from an 80's fox body Mustang from ebay that has a swing arm that unclips and can be pointed in any direction. The plastic base cover just happens to match the red interior color exactly, so it didn't need to be painted. It's one of those things that just happen work out perfectly which rarely happens when custom building a car. Everything else is usually more of a struggle trying to get things to fit just right, etc.

      Thanks for the compliments!
Yeah, the Vipers are a lot of fun, but will bite you if you are not careful. I think the blue and white GTSs are keepers. I feel they will be highly desirable some day since they are so iconic.
