      9'' center section

      Hey guys

I have a question or 2. I am looking at the Moser website. There is a choice between nodular and stock ford 9’’ center section. What’s the difference other then the price?

Also with a sbc and a 700r4 trans what would be a good gear for street and with the occasional road race.

      thank you

      John

      Hi John.

I am no expert but the nodular case is just a stronger case. I ran regular cases in all my cars with no problems. If you plan to drag race with slicks and a hard hitting converter then it may be necessary to use the better case. If not the standard case should be fine.
I run 3:90 rear gears. They work good for me on the street and track. I hit the rev limiter at 138 MPH at 6400 in 4th with a T56. 4th is 1 to 1 so it should be the same as drive with you trans.
I have a set of used 31 spline 9 " axles if you are interested.

The stock Ford case should be fine for what you are doing. The nodular case is for high HP cars, around 600 HP. The Truetrac should work very well for road racing. A 3.50 or 3.70 would be all right with the overdrive. If you get on the highway a lot then I would use the 3.50.
