Problem setting LSx into wayne due subframe: engine mount perches

The motor will not drop down onto the the subrame mounts far enough to line up the bolt holes. It appears the perches are too close together and bottom into the back of the motor mounts. If you put the bolt thru one side, the other side is wedged up into the the back of the motor mount. I then noticed the subframe perch on the left side is LONGER than the one on the right- 1" to be exact. Is this right? Could this be a screwup and be the cause of the tight fit between the motor mounts? I will add some pics later today or in the morning. Before I cut the mount off and shorten the perch to match the other side, I need some input from you guys. I am using adj. 3 position aluminum motor plates, with energy suspension poly motor mounts. Here are some pics. One side is about 8" from the frame rail to the center of the bolt hole, the other is about 9". Whats going on here? Anyone?

if its like speedtechs frame then they move the engine to the passenger side for clearance of the headers and steering shaft.

I responded on Lat G, but basically if it's the metal bent over section of the urethane mount that's hitting the WD frame you need to either swap the mounts and adapters from side to side, making the mount upside down and getting that bent piece out of the way, or trim the metal piece on the mount itself to clear the frame.

here's some pics of the mounts/plates. The tube that the bolt passes thru on the perches goes into the mount fine, it just goes in too far... and rests on the back wall of the mount plate.

      wayne due frame/ls1 mounts

I believe it's the thickness of the adapter plates causing the problem. Mine were 1/2" thick if I remember right. I made duplicates out of steel, only thinner (1/4" thick). Problem was fixed.

I am out of town, but I spoke with Frank @ prodigy and we kind of came to the same conclusion. I set the motor in & put the motor mount bolt in the pass side. I cut the perch off the drivers side and installed it in the mount with the bolt. I then set the motor where it was level side to side & used vise grips to clamp it in place. Pulled the motor out and had the perch welded. Motor drops in with ease now. I have yet to test fit the headers. The factory AC bracket will not fit- it hits the motor mount/plate. I dont have steering linkage yet, but i used a plastic shaft to mock it & it looks ok. The trans cross member came with the subframe when i bought it, was said to have a 6 speed in it. It doesn't fit/line up either. I re-drilled the mounting points on the subframe & trans mount. I now have to beef up the tailshaft mounting plate. It was a bit thin to begin with, and now with the extra holes its just week. Will test fit the headers this weekend & forward you some pics. I have the VA Gen 4 kit, and will see if their bracket fits with the plates. Scott
