19mpg and a hell of a lot more fun than my crapbox truck. ive put about 3000 miles on this thing in 3 months(which is a lot considering im 5 miles from work).

welp im only and my only job is racing motocross pro and attending college but i still have to pracetice and attend this is my 1970 468 big block c10. its about to be redone with everything like the factory moldings stock seat everything and than my 67 will take over duties with a ls2 4l60e iforged wheels and ride tech suspension.

I commute with my Firebird as much as possible. It's a carbureted and stroked Poncho. I did go with an electric choke and manual secondaries this year. Also, I added the DSE wipers, Vintage Air, Alpine CD player and Ipod, and an aluminum radiator with dual Spal fans. I put my new Covan's dash in with Autometer's, and my new Speedo reads 1468mi as I arrived at work this morning, since the beginning of June. Not too bad considering one week of that was wet sanding and buffing before the CC Summer Nats show, and last week I was installing the radiator and fans. I'm hoping to see 6-8K before the snow flies. Last year I put on 3K, but it wasn't on the road until late July. I drove it the first year (2 summers ago), about a thousand miles with no side windows, carpet, or weatherstrip and just a drivers seat. Life is better now. LOL.

I have a 60 mile round trip commute, so the TKO600 comes in real handy, but I wish I had EFI...currently only getting 10-12mpg.

Thanks man! It ain't easy sometimes..but I finally installed my locking lug nuts, so I sleep easy now.

Put about 80 miles on it yesterday just wasting gas and making other people smile. I did a burnout for good measure...the wife hates that.

I drive mine daily, rain or shine. I prefer not to drive it in the rain as it has had the same leaking windshield for the past 8 years, but oh well, one of these days. It does have it's quirks and gremlins but the pay off is worth it. Like said earlier, it's like being a celebrity. People remember me and strike up conversations. Constant thumbs up and honks. I absolutely love it. The car isn't exactly a speed demon like I want but with the standard 289/C4/2.80's, it just purrs around town just nice. It also helps to have nice seats, sound deadening, tint, big stereo and ice cold A/C.

I agree Shaun, you gotta have some comforts to put that many miles on them, or it gets tiresome.

I was at a gas station way out in the middle of nowhere yesterday getting a soda and an old Farmer was walking by with his bibs on and a cane. Asked me what year it was. Told him '69. He just smiled and said it's nice to see someone that cares. He shuffled on past...but it was a clear reminder why all that hard work is worth it. He wouldn't have had reason to say anything at all if I was in my truck. I love giving people a reason to smile. Life is too short to park 'em in the garage.

heres my DD, i've drove it everyday this summer rain or shine, crate 350, no A/C, CPP brakes, not the greatest in-town on gas but gets pretty good on highway and in traffic ive never seen water temp go over 195

Switch between STi Stage 2, Mustang S/C'd Roush P51 and Silverado truck...working really hard to ad a PT 1st gen Camaro to the line up.

Nice rides SixD7. I drive a 2002 WRX. So far I'm averaging 28.9 mpg, I drive 50 miles roundtrip. Haven't had the awd in the snow yet, but it should be fun (oh ya, and safe). It's a 2.0L turbo modified (exhaust, intake, Cobb AccessPort Stage II tune) to about 280hp/260tq.

Taking it to Bonneville Speedweek in 17 days (who's counting hehe).

well..heres me, I had been driving 40 miles a day but shouldnt have to drive much at all in the fall. I get about 10 city, 15 hwy out of the 408 and overdrive 4spd. Itll run all day long in traffic and ive never seen the tempurature get above 190.

More incredibly, heres what my dad's been driving about 80 miles per day for almost the last 30 years (thats nearly 500,000 miles just driving to work and back): 63' corvette, numbers matching 300 horse 4spd.

Neither have air..or power steering..or power windows

Here is what my dad drove daily for over 20 years and then in 96' he bought a new Z28. It went to be an autocrosser, then my sister drove it to HS, then into resto mode and has been his toy for a while.

Ouch, I hope everyone was OK.

That daily driven 64' (?) Corvette is definitely cool. Both from the miles, and that it flies in the face of the Corvette "experts" who think it should be hermetically sealed in a room where you polish date coded hose clamps. When I was a kid and first had my Vette I thought one of those guys was going to hemmorage over my molded on fiberglass bumpers.

Since I started this thread it has been great to see the different old cars (and some not so old, but cool) that are being used as drivers. It has definitely opened my eyes to a lot of options. I hope people continue to post photos and ideas.
