Yep, the tire held up fine. Dunlop makes a pretty tough tire. I'll order a replacement from tirerack later today.

I need to get that fender lip the rest of the way back in place. It rubbed a few more times on the way home, but left no visible marks.

I put my right front wheel on the curbing coming out of the banked turn. It was enough to push the tire up into the fender. After it hit, it brought the fender lip down with it and the fender lip started to slice the tire. I pulled off track the first chance I had, so nothing got hurt. The tire held air and got me home.

I ordered a replacement from tirerack yesterday. Less than 24 hours after ordering, it's already at my house. Tirerack moves fast!

I might be up for it. It would be my first time other than taking a few laps years ago in a go kart. Any more takers?

Yes! I'm up for a trip in a couple of weeks. I didn't make it last Tuesday because of electrical issues. I need to send some stuff back to ISIS (that I broke), then I'll be in business.

Well, count me out for a few weeks. Leak down showed low cyl. in #1, & #8. Hence the smoke it was coughing out. Sad part of the leak down test is that it showed the leaks to the bottm side. - I would much rather just pull the heads (which appear to be perfect) So out it came, ..... the culprit? ..... disintegrating ring lands, and thus cracked rings. Luckily no cyl. damage. Looks like constant checking saved us a bunch. Seems to have been some detonation as the root cause. I was going to swap intakes and injection to a 5.0 long runner style this week, now I'll have a bit more work to do. The question is, should I swap in the custom grind Bennet Racing cam thats been on the shelf waiting for it's turn? Hmmm. Anyway, it may be th '46 in Cost-Mesa. Topless it is.

Don is taking the '32 out there tonight. He has the power steering dialed in(no leaks) and he threw on a bigger front sway bar. Oh yeah, and he's running the R888's from the Super Chevy event instead of the NT05's for the goodguys events. He's hoping to dip into the 49.XX's.

I have my fingers crossed that all goes well and he has a new personal best to brag about.

I have family coming into town so once again I can't make it.

Don kicked butt last night. He knocked 2 full seconds off his previous best time. 48.37 is now his new personal best and he backed that up with 4 other runs in the 48.xx range. He only stayed for one session and he plans on going back next week to get more seat time with the changes he's made. The chicane is still an area where he won't run 10/10's just due to the fact that the fiberglass fenders will be destroyed if he clips a tire.

He's got a bunch of pics on a disc so as soon as I get my hands on it I will post them.

It was nice to hear him completely excited about the car again after all he's been through with it the last few months.

Did you notice if the tire chicane was set up any differently (or tighter) than usual last night? My cousin went there for the first time yesterday in his Mustang and could not believe how much he had to slow down the tire chicane. It never phased me that much, so I was wondering if they might have had some inconsistency in where they set the chicane.

It was so narrow when I went a few weeks ago, I think I had to slow down to 20ish mph. Not only that but when they put it up they moved it towards the right side of the track so that if you took it at much of an angle you'd end up off track. I wish they'd use cones. The way it was set up could do a lot of damage to a car if a driver made an error.

Don didn't mention anything about the tires moving. He's been there a few times the past few weeks.

I agree that they need to use cones instead of tires.

Don just sent me an e-mail stating that Adam's uploaded some pics onto their Facebook account. I can't view them at work to confirm but here is the provided link.

I'll be going again tomorrow. This will be the Trans Am's last hurrah before getting parked for a while.
