Tore it apart again, made a better plan, have a good feeling.
I was to the point I was looking to sell or trade my car. No progress for a long time, and much frustration when I tried. Not good.
I sat down and made a plan, and with some patience and help from a friend, I think I'll get it running and go from there. Gotta thing small, one step at a time so I don't get over whelmed.
However, I had to change a few things, and since it wasn't together so much, the front end came back off. Sheet metal and sub frame out. Yikes...Finding it much easier to do some of the work with the sheet metal off.
Plans for now:
DSE Fill plate and repaint firewall, maybe dash.
Fix some messed up bolts.
Paint the core support and such.
Paint bare head ends and clean up engine.
New brake lines, custom AN and such.
Repaint inner fenders black and support.
Reinstall the Prodigy Custom bolt kit.
Install missing suspension castle nuts and cotter pins.
Going to stick with the stock hood, and I'd like to put gas rods in or at least take out the springs and try to lighten that part up.
So far, I got the new G-Force cross member to line up and fit. Had to cut the butchered exhaust as the mechanics bent it around the incorrect cross member that was bolted to the bottom of the sub frame instead of sitting on top. Sheesh.
Really like the beef and finish on the G-Force cross member and Energy Suspension mount. The finish is a very strong powder coat and looks to last. I would recommend it for installing a 700R4 in the 68 Camaro! I did have to enlarge the holes in the sub frame a threads width to get the supplied bolts to go, but no big deal and it makes for no slop in the bolt holse. Glad I had the subframe out when I found out I had to drill!
Got the battery mounted with the Speedway Billet trunk mount, nice piece. Have to stay with the optima though, not sure about that budget wise. Not sure what to do about a rear firewall though.
Found a temp sender in the side of the block that I may use and plug the intake manifold hole to clean up the wires. Maybe.Thomas
