      Pontiac Solstice platform

Ever since I saw the Mallett Solstice V8 conversion, I've been toying with the idea of doing a V8 Solstice.

What I'm hoping for is some insight into the quality of the Solstice's chassis and suspension design. Is it a good platform to start with? It weighs in at ~2900 lbs and I believe the car as a double wishbone SLA setup on all 4 corners.

Even with the V8, weight balance can be 52/48.

read up on the Solstice that Hot Rod magazine built to see what they upgraded. it really wasn't very much that they had to change to take the power of the LS7 and it practically bolted in.
i saw the car in person at the Car Craft Summer Nats a few years ago, and it looked like an oem install with everything fully functional- except the gas gauge. they ran out of gas while driving around the fairgrounds..

I prefer the looks of the saturn sky by a long shot, but I think they're great. Have you driven one of the turbo models, they're no slouch right off the showroom floor. Drove a modded one about a year ago that had a re-tune, different turbo and some other goodies and it was just stupidly fun. I think it made almost 400hp and it was enough IMHO, more power is never a bad thing, but I think that power beyond a certain point stops being useful, and this had enough.
