      which trans??

I am toying with the idea of putting a manual trans in my monte carlo. I have no idea what to get though. I have a 355 Gen 1 small block chevy with about 400hp.

Any ideas on what to get that would be dependable??

It seems to be the red-headed step-child in the tranny world but I'm running a Tremec Aftermarket T56. It has the adapter plate to bolt up to any conventional style GM bellhousing. You can use all original A/G-body pedals and linkage. No re-engineering the wheel.

I'm using the Lakewood bell for an 83 Camaro mechanical linkage (since it was a 2 year only bell and hard to find oem) with a set of f-body pedals with the firewall mount lengthened. I'm also running the SpeedDirect linkage with the g-body z-bar.
