      RPM Air gap intake

I would like to know if of the guys with 69 camaros, with a small block running a stock steel cowl induction hood. Can you run an Edelbrock RPM Air gap manifold and if so with what air cleaner. I'm going to change the top end of my motor and want to use that manifold if I can. Thanks guys............mike

Is the Air Gap taller than the non Air gap RPM? If not, I run a drop base 14" cleaner with a K&N filter top and 3" tall element. Fits under my OEM steel hood no problems.

      Dimensions

According to Edelbrock the RPM Air Gap manifold and Performer RPM manifold have the same dimensions. The Performer Air Gap manifold is a little shorter. I have vortec heads now and a GM P/N 12366573 vortec manifold. The recommended manifold for my heads I want to change to is the Edelbrock RPM Air Gap. So I'm just trying to figure if you guys have been this route too...........Mike

It will fit with a 1" spacer and a drop base air cleaner. Be sure that the drop base does not restrict the air entering the carburettor, especially on carbs with tall choke towers. A filter top may be needed.

      Intake

So do you figure without the 1 inch spacer I would be ok with a standard base air cleaner to fit?

Perhaps not. Trial fitment is the only way to confirm since not all air cleaners are created equal.
