      Ridetech black series shockwaves

Anyone running their non-adjustable Shockwaves? Looks like a possible way to shave $600 off my GTO suspension. I've got single adjustable coilovers on my Firebird and I'm not completely convinced that a shock that is only rebound adjustable makes a lot of sense for the money. Maybe it does so if someone can explain to me what I am missing that would be good too.

      Thanks,
      Don

If the single adjustables are valved for the application, rebound adjustable can work well for ride and handling. A non adjustable can work well too, provided the valving, again, is geared towards your type of vehicle and motion ratios.

Most people wont know any different if the shocks are incorrect for the application, and a few will. It's really up to you and how much you want to spend.

Thanks Matt. I'm the first one to admit that I don't know the correct way to adjust my shocks. The fronts on my AME subframe seemed to be easy to adjust to where I like them but I have experimented with spring rates and shock adjustments on my G-Bar and I'm still not as happy with it as the front. The two seem to be mismatched if that makes sense. Not sure but I suspect this may have something to do with my DD being a Z51 C6 and my expectations might be too high. Trying to go a different way on the GTO using the Shockwaves both front and rear to get a better match if that makes sense.

Makes sense to me. You should be able to get the Firebird to ride as well as the C6 when you have it all figured out. I use position #7 on the front shock on mine (550lb spring), and about #5 in back with a 200lb spring. Not sure what rear shock you are using, though.

Thinking about it more and more, I think you'd be better off with adjustables on each corner. I just can't see how a one-size-fits-all could work well.

I have high standards for ride and handling, so keep that into consideration...

The Black Series Shockwaves are valved to offer the best ride quality, while retaining descent handling. The 7000 & 8000 Series Shockwaves are primarily used on staight axle rear suspension, so we use a fairly soft valving in them. The 1000 Series and the new 104mm Shockwaves use a stiffer valving in them since they are primarily used in indepent suspensions where the motion ratio is much greater.

If you plan on ocassional recreational track use (auto cross/drag) i'd go single adjustables Master Series. If you are gonna be pretty serious on the track and compete, then I'd go for the DA Master Series. For full out track cars that will see numerous laps in a row, the DA Titaniums Series w/ the remote reservoirs are needed.

Sounds like I need the adjustable shocks.
