Going into my first a track day, I suspected that I would need a new brake system. I went with the SBCC front and rear kit as they were the only one at the time who presented a complet kit. I was not into gathering all the parts from different sources and doing it my self. They work excellent on the street and for the few track days that I go to.

I've pushed the limits of the stock single piston fronts and drum rears on The 14 Car for years trying all kinds of heavy duty and ceramic pads/shoes etc. Since I use the car on full size road tracks it's been tough on parts. Porterfield race pads up front and custom made race shoes in the rear with finned drums worked the best on track but I overheated the rotors (crystalize them) and would need to get new rotors for each track weekend. I kept a dedicated set of track pads/rotors & drums/shoes and would switch everything before and after eack track event.

I kept doing that because going with new brakes would also require new wheels and tires and the combined expense of brakes/wheels/tires is a lot. So I spent my money on rotors, race pads/shoes, and entry fees so I could go to the tracks.

I was lucky enough to win the Performance Therapy photo contest and Yokohama Tires, Rushforth wheels, and Baer brakes were some of the prizes I was awarded as the grand prize winner. So I can move up to bigger diameter brakes/wheels/tires all at the same time.

Todd at Baer went way, way, way, beyond his contest donation obligation to really hook me up with a serious set of brakes that are just what my car needs for track use! After talking with him about the parts I've built the car with and what I do with it he decided on my setup. I explained that although my car's pretty and photographic I'm more of a track/race guy using the car for LSR, HPDE, and drag events plus regular street driving and don't show the car. I'm function first kind of guy and then if I can make it look good I do. If I have time and money I'll go to a track not a show or cruise.

Todd made a whole bunch of suggestions while I nodded my head on the other end of the phone not knowing about some of the things he was talking about since I'm no brake engineer. Anyway here's what he came up with that arrived yesterday. I'm so psyched! These rotors are as big as the wheels the car left the factory with!

14" slotted rotors with their 6P (asphalt competition) calipers all around. Parking brake and an adjustable proportioning valve. Not only is it a killer setup, they went above and beyond, by sending them out in the new Nickle finish! (not even on their website yet!) So for once I'm the guy with the newest cool parts! I took pics of course! LOL

Fronts with spindles necessary come out of the box like this ready to go!

      Rears

Parking brake that fits inside the rear rotors and a bias valve I'm going to try to install within reach of the drivers seat so I can fine tune it on track.

Free stuff is great isn't it. It also helps you thrash your car, so the vendors get their monies worth. Nice looking brakes. I know what you mean about the stock stuff. I upgraded from the stock disc\drum to 4 wheel Wilwoods. Not quite as big rotors. Make sure you have your seat belt on or you will taste the windshield when you through out the anchor.

Figuring on C6 Z06/Z51 big brakes on front of Caprice clearing them with split 5 spoke black 18 in Vette repro wheels and C5/C6 small brakes to work with 17 in wheels, not check on design.
Since Ido like to dragrace and may try to dig up some slicks or cheaters I will probably use S10/Blazer rear disc on both. Especially since Monza rear end is S10/Blazer 10 bolt.

      A few finishing touches

Currently I'm finishing the install of 4wheel c5 kit via Kore3 brackets and lines, used c5 z06 calipers... hydroboost with a willwood master. Whats stopping me is the fact that I'm scrapping time together to finish the install.

C5 rotors and calipers all around with Carbotech pads. Haven't gotten to use them yet, but my reasoning for going C5 was purely due to parts availability. No matter where I am in the country, someone will have parts available if something happens. They're also a significant upgrade from stock G-body brakes, and pretty affordable in contrast to some of the aftermarket stuff out there.
