Accessories? - Which factory setup works?

      Hi,

I am having a hard time getting a solid answer on accessories - is there any factory setup that will work out of the box for an LQ4 swap that I am doing on a 69 Camaro?

CTS-V hug closest to the block from what I hear - does that work?

I have also heard that I can use the stock truck accessories as long as I use the KWIK alternator mount, if that is true I will definitely go that route as it is the cheapest way to go.

I am looking to stay factory and off the shelf as I am as budget as possible.

      Thanks,
      Chris

4th gen f-body. C5 will also work. Look around here for Aaron's build using a truck accessory drive.

Carl what are you running on your car? I will eventually be going with a Supercharger as well. Also do you have AC? I am sing the ATS brackets as well (to keep hood clearance)

Did you notch your frame? are you using the OE compressor or sandeen 5 or 7?

The A/C compressor runs off a separate belt closer to the block than the rest of the accessories on the stock set up. The compressor mount is down low on the passengar side and this will hit your stock subframe. If you plan on running A/C you will need to either modify the stock subframe (clearance by cutting out a section of the cross member and reinstalling a concave piece) OR purchase the KWIK performance relocation bracket that puts the compressor high and off the same belt as the other accessories. If you are not planning on running A/C (which is crazy since you are in Texas) then you should be able to run almost any of the stock car accessory drives with no problems.

Have part numbers for that one? Did you get the intake from them also?

      Thanks

You had to add the water pump and balancer correct? Happen to have links or part #'s on both?

Not a bad price considering everything included.

I have an LQ4 and I'm using truck accessories. Shaved some of the alternator bracket to clear TB sensors. Forgot what was done to water pump. I'm also running an LS6 intake. Factory power steering pump as well.

4th-gen f-body accessory drive. The GTO accessory drive is the same. No A/C, but at some point I may notch the frame to fit the compressor.

If you are going to supercharge using a Magnuson or similar setup I highly suggest using an OE accessory drive that matches the blower. Many of the aftermarket drives do not work well with superchargers.

Agreed... I was trolling the net to see if anyone uses this combo... I am hoping thier is someone using ATS mounts OEM accessory drive and a Sandeen 5 compressor... although I will move to the Sandeen 7 if I have to,

A stock compressor and ATS mounts can be used. The frame just needs to be notched.

If the compressor is going to be used in the stock LS position notching will be needed. To me, this is the cleanest way to do it if a stock subframe is to be used.

Great... VA voids the warranty if a non Vintage air compressor is used.
I founf this one and it looks to be as big as the VA one

I am hoping the sandeen 508 provided by VA fits with just the notch.
