I wonder how many of those accidents were distracted drivers talking or texting on their phones?

It was my observation that a lot of the people getting hit should have seen it coming in time to avoid the accident, or at least decrease the severity of it.
It doesn't matter what colour the light is, look both ways.

Years ago I was stoped at a red light late at night in Dubuque Ia and a Semi came up from behind swirved over and blew right thru the light cutting off a car. I though I was dead meat when I looked in my rear view and could tell he was going to fast to stop, thank God he was able to get around me and miss the other car as well. Sometimes ya get lucky. I was driving a beat up Datsun F10 and it would have been bad news.

I seem to remember that he was being chased because he stole a lawn mower.

I had to laugh at the one guy who blew threw the light with the cop sitting there and he took off after him.

And how cool was the dude in the crosswalk who would be dead if he was 3 steps farther along? He just paused, the van goes by, and he keeps on going not even looking back!
I am not useless, I can still be used as a bad example!

I agree that quite a few of those people getting hit should have seen it coming earlier. Not saying they're at fault, but some of those wrecks could have been softened or prevented entirely.

When I was 16 some of my friends used to give me crap because I was so cautious about looking all around even when I already had the right-of-way. But after everyone had been driving a couple months they got the picture - half the drivers on the road are either asleep or high. (And these days the other half are on the phone.)

When I had a car versus bike impact it was partially my fault, came around a bend trying to get a knee down and a car was pulling out of a driveway...boom. Then boom again, went over the first car and landed on..another car.It was softer than you think.Like landing on a mattress made of glass. And steel.

I wont mention his name but I watched another member of this forum laugh and cackle through that whole video. It was awesome.
