      My 4l80e build!

Just dropped of the $$ for the 4l80e trans. What controls the trans on a carburated set up? Vacuum, cable? Does the trans have to be built any different for a blower set up? Will the drive shaft have to be shortened? I am running a TH400 now. Any special tips on what to put in the trans as far as special shafts or tricks I can do now and avoid problems later? Car will be set up for road and autoross w paddle Shrifter . Thanks all tips and suggestions appreciated.

These are all questions I would suggest you ask your builder.

There are aftermarket shafts available and other improved parts to prevent failure in high power applications.
There are methods used during a rebuild to make it live with high power, and lessen frictional losses.
A carbed setup can use either full manual control or a standalone controller to control the trans. You'll need a standalone controller to use the Shrifter.
You will have to cut your driveshaft.

When using a controller, a TPS sensor is adapted to your carb linkage. We provide very nice, bolt on TPS kits at no extra charge with every carb based Compushift kit.

Set the trans up on the firm side. For the most part, we can soften the trans with the tune up. But we can't electronically add what isn't there.
