      Muncie experts

There's a swap meet coming up this weekend and I think it's time to get the parts to fix the Chevelle's transmission.

It's an M20, but the countergear and one of the drive gears are damaged.

The countergear has 25-22-19-17 teeth on each gear, going from big to small. The gear with 22 teeth is the damaged one, and the matching gear on the mainshaft is torn up as well. Which gear is that? I'm thinking second, but I'd hate to buy based on a guess.

I believe that is 3rd. It goes 4th being the input shaft down to 1st being the rear most gear. You can get Muncie parts off ebay or buy them new. Classid Industries has them in their catalog or I'm sure one of the sites fine sponsors will have access to a replacement cluster gear and 3rd gear.

The good news is it isn't 1st or 2nd. They require you to disassemble the main shaft which is a pain. You will just need to remove the main shaft and then a "C" clip to take off 3rd. Replace the cluster gear and be sure to set your back lash with new shims.

I'll find the number of the Muncie guy that is at all of the DFW swap meets for you after lunch . You can call him and he will bring what ever hard parts you need to Pate. I got a rebuild kit for my M20 from him at the LaGrave meet for $175 .

Did you end up getting what you needed ? I ended up trading my '27 Roadster for that primered '69 SS Chevelle in zone 3 on row 6. Runs like a bat outta heck !

Crap no. We walked that whole damn place and didn't see *anyone* selling any Muncie parts.

Then after we got home, we saw in the little pamphlet that his booth was right there on Petty.

I'll end up mailordering the parts from someone or I'll try again at the meet at LaGrave next month.

      I don't know that I remember the primered 69. Where's the pics?
