      New guy from NJ

Hey everyone, first of all I gotta say this place is pretty cool. Tons of info and cool people. Props!

I've got a '67 Firebird convertible. Is it me, or does everyone in the welcome section seem to be a '67 bird owner? Not something I wold have expected, but cool to see! Anyway, the car has been an on going project for years. It now has a 467 ci motor (Pontiac block, poncho powa!) mated to a 5 speed TKO-600 gearbox. Suspension was converted to adjustable coilovers all around, with tubular control arms in front. In the rear it has a 4-link set up. We also upgraded to SSBC disks all around, and completed a rack and pinion conversion.

The car is an absolute blast to cruise around in, it hauls some ass. We didn't build it for drag racing, but the best I've ran was a 12.4 @ 114. Traction/launch is what kills it, obviously. Even at that time, I was yelled at by the officials because apparently un-caged convertibles are restricted to 13 or so and above. Oops

Anyway, just thought I'd do a little intro and I'll try to post my $.02 around. Here's some pics of the 'bird:

Nice. That looks a lot like the chevy color tahoe turquoise. I wonder if it is the same. I know both divisions used the color w/different names in 67 and maybe earlier. I see it on GTOs from time to time.

In any event that car looks great. What size tires you running?

Welcome, awesome Firebird! Can you provide some more detail on the motor; what heads, stroker kit, etc..

I'm going to start building my 400 soon and need to start deciding on parts.
      Thanks

I had never heard of Tahoe Turquoise, but after seeing some pics of it on google it does look very similar

The engine was built by Butler Performance. Its a 400 blocked bored to fit 4.181" Ross pistons and running a forged 4.25" stroke crank. Heads are aluminum Edelbrock Performer 87cc, p/n EDL-60569. Cam is a custom grind Comp Cam, I forget the exact specs at the moment. It has .600" of lift though. I'm running solid roller lifters and roller rockers as well. I have a full spec sheet somewhere that I need to find, I can give more details then.

On the engine dyno it made 591 hp and I believe 570-580 lb-ft of torque.

Awesome, thanks for the info, especially the dyno numbers. That will help out in picking my parts.
